The Wild and Free Botanical Dye are dyed by textile artist Lisa Rogers using various flowers, roots, and more! Each item is vibrantly colorful and completely one-of-a-kind.

These are made with a variety of botanicals and a fascinating insect called cochineal. Cochineal gives bright pinks from a scale insect that is a pest found on the nopal cactus (also known as prickly pear cactus). This cochineal comes from fair trade, family farms in Peru. Botanical colors from madder root, hollyhock, coreopsis, onion skin, scabiosa and marigold, naturally create a confetti of color!  

Lisa Rogers is the owner and natural dyer behind SlowDigz in California. She's inspired by nature, hand dying on natural fibers using raw botanicals, insects, and metals. She uses flowers, leaves, stems, and roots from her own dye garden along with local leaves to create color and design. We recommend a cold water wash with pH neutral soap. Natural colors can shift and fade over time. Dry out of direct sunlight to prolong colors. Do not dry clean.

The Hipster is sized from XS - 4XL and is designed to sit in the natural crease at the top of the leg, cover your bum, and reach to the hip. We recommend the Hipster if you are flat in the tummy and/or short in the rise to the waist. For many of us, the Hipster does not reach over the apex of our tummy roll at which point the natural laws of gravity take over and the Hipster will roll down. In this situation, we have a solution in the slightly higher waisted, original option.

Thunderpants 90% organic cotton/10% spandex fabric is sturdy, very stretchy, and has great retention to give our garments just enough stretch and bounce back. It helps the undies to stay up and on, and the other garments to keep their shape without sagging or bagging. We use the same soft organic cotton blend to cut our binding into a wide strip instead of using elastic so there is never any irritating elastic against your skin. All the garments are made locally and lovingly in Portland, OR.

Make sure to wash these alone or with like colors for the first few washes (don't wash them with whites right away!). The dyeing process does leave a faint scent, this is not scented detergent, we only use un-scented when washing before and after dyeing. The smell of the dyeing process will fade over time.

To preserve the vibrant colors and life of the fabric we suggest you do not soak or bleach your Thunderpants items. Use a gentle detergent in a cold machine wash and dry your Thunderpants on the line (they will survive drying on low, but may fade a bit and cut down slightly on longevity). If you do wash warm or dry, make sure not to use too much heat as heat will break down the spandex!
