Reducing Waste Is the Cutest Thing You Can Do

Keeping a commitment to ethical labor practices and sustainable manufacturing can mean a lot of different things. Here at Thunderpants, we aim to do this throughout our supply chain: This can look like repairing faulty products and selling them at a discount OR making use of leftover fabrics to reduce waste. One way our zero waste practice of repurposing excess fabric manifests itself is through very limited runs of two-tone underwear. These limited products are made with fabric from a previous run and binding from a different previous run. As such, the two-tone color combinations still use the custom-milled fabric in all of our underwear with 90% organic cotton, so they bring the same comfort and wedgie-free promise but in unique color ways. Plus, since all of our prints, patterns and solids are so boldly colorful, these combinations bring a new level of excitement! Like most things in life, our limited edition Two-Tone underwear come with pros and cons. The positive? New color combinations are worth OBSESSING over. The bad news? Using excess fabric like this means we end up with super limited runs that aren’t available in many styles and sizes.

Earlier this month, our friends down the road at Evergreen Apparel were sewing up our final batch of Pomegranate Punch undies and ran out of binding... ✨BUT✨ we happened to have this gorgeous Golden Yellow in our extra binding stash, and thus… we launched a two-tone color combination called “Hibiscus Blossom.” 🌺

While all of our print releases are limited edition, these color combinations are ESPECIALLY limited. For example, Hibiscus Blossom is only available in Originals in sizes S to XL.

Similarly, earlier this year, we released “Bird in Paradise” made from leftover Peacock Green fabric, and there are a few pairs of these colorful, tropical cuties up for grabs.

Limited edition runs like this make it possible for us to use our scraps and leftover fabrics until there’s nothing left instead of sending things to a landfill. 💪 Think of it like an ephemeral bloom: These pairs will only bloom once and everyone has their eyes on ‘ em, so once you see combinations like these, snag them while you can.

These are the softest and most comfortable underpants ever! I absolutely love the bright and fun colors. They last forever, I’m still waiting for the ones I bought years ago to wear out, but they are still in terrific shape.
